A beautiful morning dawned and we hear from the locals that it won't really rain now till fall. We are looking at a week of 16 deg C days and 9 deg C nights....pretty damn warm after the temps we've experienced lately!
We've spent a bit of time pottering about 'Sea Otter' while she was on the hard, clearing out the lockers and repacking some of our gear. Also continued visiting Mall's and supermarkets researching stores and supplies. Today, the Yard Manager told us they had received the wrong feathering propeller for us and the right one won't turn up till Thursday! So the options were stay on the hard or drop her back in the water and pull out the mast to start re-rigging. So...Sea Otter is back in the water Mast-less! We however are still in our luxury Motel at Marina Village and will check out and move onto Sea Otter on Wednesday.
We have a big order about to be placed for all the big ticket items at West Marine. Liferaft, Dinghy, EPIRB, 4 deep cell gel batteries, Solar Panel. Don't ask how much, lets just say...2 round the world air tickets would be close.
Tonight we went to dinner at 'Dragon Village' with our fast becoming best buddies in Alameda, well actually California! Our brokers, Dinah and Roger. Dinah seems to have adopted us and is horrified at how bad we are at negotiating better deals and prices on gear. So she has taken over! They are also our tour guides to all that the area has to offer, in food, wine and entertainment! Dragon Village is the best little Chinese restaurant, it looks very unassuming from the outside but inside the food and prices are unbeatable. Check out the photo above!
The other photo is from our walk around the Marina at dusk last night. I also saw my first Hummingbird...tiny and beautiful.
